The Dwindling Digital Divide?

The “Digital Divide” describes the separation between those who have internet access and those who don’t. This issue is a slow and silent killer - if you thought the disparity in education was bad, wait.
As more products, services, and information become available thorough the net, those without internet access fall further behind in opportunities. Addressing this issue was so important that President Barack Obama gave it key importance in his political agenda.
A new market research report from emarketer paints a rosy picture for African-Americans with respect to the digital divide revealing that “nearly one-half of the African-American population—over 19 million people—uses the Internet at least once a month, and in four years, 56% will be online.”
Once a month won’t cut it, neither will the projected 56%.
One goal of educatedblackman.com is to sponsor activities that will bridge the digital divide. Once we begin selling products, we plan to donate 15% of profits toward that goal (and others).
In the future, you may never have to attend a physical college to become an Educated Black Man or Woman.
Let’s make it happen.
